2nd Batch Summary

Open Network Lab FUKUOKA (Onlab FUKUOKA) is an open innovation program that facilitates business creation for smart cities and smart life for the “new normal” in the Fukuoka area. Linking leading companies, including those based in Fukuoka, with national and international startups, Onlab FUKUOKA is involved in the co-creation of businesses geared toward the services and technology that the society needs for the “new normal.”

Highlight

A total of 73 startups based in Fukuoka and from around the world have applied.

The applicants include startups based in Fukuoka, as well as North America, Europe, and Asia. We also received many business ideas related to lifestyles and work styles attuned to the “new normal.”

A business hub bridging Fukuoka and the world

For the program, we proactively targeted both national and international startups intending to expand into Fukuoka and startups that are already operating business in Fukuoka. Onlab FUKUOKA acted as a business hub that bridges Fukuoka and the world.

This SaaS-type software optimizes real estate management tasks, which use large amounts of paper and faxes. It gathers building information from apps and automates the various types of manual tasks. By having an AI that performs some of the management tasks that depend on knowledge and the five senses, this software enables high-quality real estate management even by those who are not well versed in the facilities. Our aim is for data-based, efficient real estate management to free people from common management methods and maintain real estate value through a scientific approach.

Idein Inc.

Idein is a startup with a powerful technology that uses inexpensive general-purpose devices to speed up the process of AI (deep learning). This technology is incorporated into “Actcast,” the company’s edge AI platform, and has provided services to developers and businesses that are developing, installing, and utilizing practical AI/Internet of things systems.

Jigowatts Inc.

JAPAN

Jigowatts has developed one of the world’s smallest electrical vehicle battery chargers with authentication and billing functions. It can be installed in any parking space to supply electricity to a car while parked and not being used, thereby eliminating the need to wait for the car to charge up at a charging station.

WeavAir

CANADA

WeavAir offers a proactive end-to-end early warning and decision support system for 30% faster detection of safety hazards like smoke, preventing the spread of contamination and infection and reducing operational and maintenance costs. WeavAir was founded in 2017 in Canada and has operations in South Korea and Singapore. The company has received 20 awards in North America, Asia, and Europe.

Geocreates, Inc.

JAPAN

Geocreates is a Virtual Reality (VR) startup for architecture with the vision, “The best spatial experience for everyone!” The company has developed “ToPolog” that uses VR, eye tracking, and brain waves to quantify users’ spatial experiences and has been used in more than 100 urban planning and high-rise projects in Japan and overseas. The company is now expanding into other fields.

Qurate Inc.

Qurate is a B2B SaaS platform designed for collaboration among marketers, designers, product owners, etc. It visualizes the strategy, planning, production, operation, management, and analysis of content across all channels, allowing everyone to have the same understanding and optimal control.

Mellow Inc.

JAPAN (FUKUOKA)

Mellow operates the platform service, SHOP STOP, which dispatches unique mobile stores (shop mobility) to stops in business districts, residential areas, and other locations. More than 1,000 businesses, mainly food trucks, are participating, and the service has been expanding in the Tokyo, Kansai, and Kyushu areas.
